LOGAN CITY ORCHESTRAS

Celebrating Logan City’s Diversity Through Orchestral Excellence and Community Engagement

About LCO

Logan City Orchestras (LCO) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to creating vibrant orchestral opportunities across the City of Logan. As an inclusive and community-driven initiative, LCO is being developed to support a multi-ensemble structure designed to foster musical excellence, education, and engagement across all ages and ability levels.

LCO is home to the Logan City Symphony Orchestra (LCSO)—our premier ensemble—as well as in the future a range of smaller ensembles and project-based groups. We invision these to include chamber music initiatives, youth development ensembles, and cross-genre collaborations that reflect the rich cultural diversity of the region.

Driven by a passionate team of musicians, educators, arts workers, and volunteers, LCO operates on a project-based model, enabling flexible and high-quality participation across the year. We work closely with local venues, community partners, and arts organisations to build pathways into orchestral music and celebrate the creative talent within Logan.

Our guiding objectives

Outstanding Orchestra Communities: Bring together musicians of all ages to build outstanding orchestral-based ensembles, including a professional-level Symphony Orchestra. These ensembles are all about delivering performances, offering an excellent experience for their members, and leaving audiences inspired.

Performance that Connect: Through a mix of traditional concerts and innovative outreach programs, showcase the vibrant cultural diversity of Logan City and beyond, with performances designed to enrich lives and bring people together.

Artists Development: Develop local talent through programs that mentor, educate, and uplift artists, creating opportunities for them to grow and succeed within our community and beyond.

Creating Pathways: From musicians to arts administrators, create pathways to meaningful careers that strengthen the cultural fabric of Logan City.

Engaging with our Community: Partner and collaborate with organisations and businesses that share our vision, ensuring Logan City continues to thrive as a hub for arts and culture.

Logan City Symphony Orchestra

The Logan City Symphony Orchestra (LCSO) is the premier ensemble of Logan City Orchestras, uniting musicians from across the region to perform powerful film scores, evocative symphonic works, and bold new repertoire. Established in 2025, the LCSO signals a new era of musical storytelling in Logan—where excellence, diversity, and community come together on stage.

Led by founding conductor Dr Lewes Peddell, the LCSO operates as a project-based orchestra, bringing musicians together for focused rehearsal periods leading into major performance events. Our ensemble features over 70 musicians—including professional artists, advanced students, music educators, and dedicated community players—working side by side to bring world-class music to local audiences.

Each project showcases dynamic programming that reflects the vibrancy of Logan’s cultural landscape.

The LCSO’s debut performance, A New World of Music for Logan, takes place at the Logan Entertainment Centre on 25 July 2025—an unforgettable launch into the city’s orchestral future.
